Summer Reading

I have been needing to find some good reading material to occupy our quiet evenings.  Unfortunately, the library didn't have any of the titles I was looking for.  Hooray for Amazon and a friend who let me use her address here for shipping!  She brought the box to me at church yesterday, so I eagerly began a couple of them last night.

Other than my Bible, here's what is on my nightstand right now:

My Bible study book.
It's a study written specifically for military wives preparing for, or in the midst of, a deployment.  I joined halfway through, but what I have done is good.  I can see it being most beneficial to do it right at the beginning of a deployment.

Giant textbook-like manual on being a Godly homemaker.
I have had friends recommend this, but I am only a couple chapters in.  I haven't formed an opinion yet.

This is NOT on my nightstand, but it was the book I devoured in two days, recently.  It is a really good read and it inspired my next pick.
This is the newest Duggar book which IS on my nightstand.  I really enjoy this family!  No, we do not share all the convictions they have, but we do share a common faith in Christ and I think they are awesome role-models for many aspects of life.

Finally, I ordered a "school book" to supplement our other curriculum.  The title is so corny, that I would typically have passed right by it.  However, I kept coming across more and more homeschool families who have praised it, so I decided I would give it chance.
Our other homeschool curriculum should be arriving in Dallas today and I can hardly wait to get my hands on it!  I am going to tear into that box when we go visit next week!  It will provide more reading material and plenty of prep-work, I am sure.  We are starting school in 3 weeks, but more on that in another post...

So what books are on your nightstand?

I can't wait to hear your review about the Large Family book, that is on my "wish list" from Amazon...but I haven't bought it yet! I also am excited to tell my little sis still in Grand Forks about the deployment book since her hubby is gone right now. Can't wait to keep up with you guys as you homeschool too!

I'm also curious about your opinion of Large Families. I could always use more tips on raising a bunch of kids. :oP I love reading about the Duggars too, but I really have to remember not to feel inadequate after reading about how together they have it!
