I haven't really blogged much about the devastating flood in Minot. Devastation is truly the best word to describe it. Joplin is easy to picture devastated because a tornado's effects are immediate and dramatic. The flood pictures aren't as alarming and the aftermath is slow to unveil itself, so it can be hard to understand if you aren't actually there to see it firsthand.
We aren't there at the moment, but we know multiple families who have been "displaced" because their homes were severely damaged or completely destroyed. As I mentioned before, there is a family we don't even know taking refuge in our house right now. So, let's get to the nitty-gritty.
How can you help?
How can you help?
- PRAY.
- GIVE. Either of your time by going and rebuilding (Yes, I am serious. We know families taking trips to do this.) Or give financially if you are so blessed. Our church is setting up a link for this, but in the meantime, you can call the church office at 701.839.5127 or visit http://www.trinitychurchminot.org (Incidentally, the blog link on the website is awesome. Our pastor has been blogging about the flood and his own family's losses and gains.)
- VOTE. Right now, it will take you just 2 minutes or less to vote for one of our favorite parks in Minot to get $100,000 to be rebuilt. No personal info needed. Just click on the link, enter OAK PARK, MINOT and GO. It will pop open a window where you can vote. You can vote more than once, too! Visit each day! http://www.livepositively.com/#/americasparks/vote
And if you haven't seen any of the photos or footage of the flood, here is a link to a CBS video featuring a family we know and our pastor. It's short. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7371404n%3Ftag%3Dfacebook
