...Major-select Alan Rohrer! The promotion list came out this week and Alan was on it! It's always exciting to move up the ladder in the chain of command, but this was the most exciting so far. Promotions through Captain (Alan's current rank) are pretty much a given. If you haven't screwed up something huge and you have a pulse, you promote. However, Major is the first rank in the "Field Grade Officer" category and it's really the first promotion that you have to "earn." It's also the last promotion and rank a lot of people ever earn. He won't actually pin-on his gold oak leaves until October, but his line number is 54 out of 3000+, so he'll be one of the first. I am very proud of Alan for his hard work and service to God and our country!
(A funny aside to his selection: When Alan came home from work I said to Connor, "Daddy made Major! Tell him congratulations!" Connor ran into the kitchen, looked in the oven and asked, "Daddy made what?!")
