Zoë's First Days

Zoë is 5 days old today and we're working on getting into a groove around here. Having Grandma here to help makes it much easier. The boys have welcomed Zoë nicely. They occasionally give her some attention, but mostly, they just go on with their normal playing and activities. Connor, more than Keegan, asks to hold her.

She reminds us of Connor in her disposition. She's much less easy-going than Keegan was and she's had some hours of crying and crying and crying some more. (Keegan spoiled us with his contentment.) She's not as bad as Connor who cried ALL day and night, so hopefully she won't have the allergy issues he had. It's too early to tell, though. When you have had one baby that cried all the time, one baby that never cried for more than communication and you get one that is in the middle, you aren't sure what to think. Her little tummy seems to have some issues, but hopefully they'll work themselves out as she grows. She is a really great nurser, thankfully! She was 8lbs 6oz at birth, 8lbs at 24 hours when we left the hospital and at 96 hours old, she was a hefty 8lbs 9oz!

Already this week, Zoë's been back to the hospital for tests (passed her jaundice test, failed her hearing screen - too much gunk in her ears still), made a shopping run to Babies R Us, picked up groceries, saw the pediatrician and went to an airshow. Busy baby!

Here are a few photos more photos of life around here:
The boys think my nursing pillow is great toy.

Chillin' in the bouncy seat.

Not so thrilled about her first sponge bath at home.

Relaxing with Grandma.

Sleeping through the airshow with burp rag ear mufflers.

The boys were a little bothered by the noise...

...but did enjoy the show.
(As an aside, you can see in the background the wing of what Connor referred to as, "A fat plane." It was a B-52 from Minot that was in for the show and it made me a little sad to realize that neither of the boys remember our time in North Dakota or Daddy flying the B-52. I hadn't thought about how young they were when we left Minot.)

Looks like Zoe is going to get the hang of life in the Rohrer household very soon! Sure seems like you are up and running quickly and getting the hang of it.

What a beautiful sweet girl! An air show just days after giving birth to an 8 1/2 lb baby? Take a break Kelly! LOL Glad to hear that you all are doing well though.
