Budget Makeover

Today, some of our friends were rejoicing in paying off their mortgage and we totally rejoiced with them, but I felt a twinge of, "I wish that were us!" Not jealousy, but remorse that we were not as well counseled in our early twenties to invest and save differently. We have never had debt, thankfully, other than the cars and house, but even that is something I am ready to be done with. We do not want to be slaves to someone else who holds our purse-strings. When all you have is house debt, you can get very comfortable and lazy and it takes serious discipline, I know. We gave Brad plenty of grief over the years over his penny-pinching ways, but now they owe money to no one! And when you are in your early 30s, living on ONE government paycheck, that's impressive!!! Way to go, guys! You've given us a kick in the pants and we are going to review some of our Dave Ramsey materials to give our budget a makeover!!! (This could be extremely painful when Baby craves Pei Wei and feels the need to drive 40 miles round trip in rush hour to get some take out! Yes, I actually did that last week!)
