We have a little game we like to play around here called "HIGH - Low."
When the boys were in preschool, we would usually play in the car on the way home from school, but now we usually play around the dinner table. The boys love it!
Here's how you play:
- One at a time, you share one HIGH (the thing you are most thankful for from the day) and one Low (a disappointment or frustration from the day).
- Everyone has to share a High, but you do not have to share a Low if you don't have one.
Let me share an example from today:
Mommy's LOW - Getting rear-ended while driving to pick up the boys from camp.
Mommy's HIGH - Daddy and Zoƫ were not injured, our friend Daphne was able to pick up the boys from church and I only have minor whiplash and some cramping (because I happened to be leaning forward when it occurred). Baby got an ultrasound and is fine, praise God! We even got to have a family lunch out when it was all over!
Most HIGH - Lows are not so dramatic, but you get the idea. It's a great way of teaching the kids to find God in their every day and be thankful. I also notice that one middle child in particular thrives off the attention of getting to "have the floor" to talk and share for a few minutes each day. He's always the one reminding us to "play."
