Goodbye, Beautiful Beach

Very sadly, today might have been our last day at the beach. And due to inclement weather, it was a very short-lived one. We're hoping and praying that we can try again tomorrow and Saturday, but the weather isn't supposed to be much better and the oil is moving towards us. It's inevitable.
Since we were only there for about 30 minutes, Zoƫ just hung out in the wagon under the umbrella.
The boys enjoyed the very short time with their friends.
A highlight (for them) of the trip was watching the boats pull the orange booms along the beach.

Connor has been calling them yellow and orange "strings" and if he sees one when we drive somewhere, he asks, "Why is there a big orange string in the water?" We explain the oil spill. "Why?," he persists. Our best answer for him, "Greed." I am sure that our federal government and BP are quite regretful that they didn't spend a little money up front to have emergency measures in place. It's costing billions more now. And for us personally, it's costing us our beautiful, white sandy beaches.
