Happy St. Patrick's Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I had grand delusions that we'd have a fabulous day of learning all about St. Patrick, his being a missionary to a country that had held him captive in his youth, using the shamrock to teach the Holy Trinity and share God's love with the people who had persecuted him. Truly, I was deluded because the day started off with me waking up an hour late so we didn't even get to enjoy green pancakes. I also couldn't find a shamrock cookie cutter, so we made green soldier cookies, green trees, green stars, etc... The boys were not the least bit interested in who St. Patrick was, let alone any other lessons I could glean from the holiday. They did enjoy the green cookies, though, as did our friends at playgroup.
Little do the boys know, they have challenged me to do it bigger and better next year...they will awake to green crepe paper strewn festively, possibly green balloons, definitely green pancakes and without a doubt, shamrock cookies!

Our Non-Shamrock Cookies:

Daddy helped cut the cookies the night before.

Gracie thought they were yummy!

So did Clay!

Keegan would put just a little frosting on, then taste test the cookies.

Connor decorated cookies but wouldn't taste them.
