The Making of the Cake

Betty Crocker and Mrs. Wilton, I am not. As was proved by the three, yes THREE, attempts it took to get a "George" cake.

I was attempting to follow the "Draw Curious George" directions from the PBSkids website.

Making a mess with inadequate tools or training...

I first produced these...

Then I hastily busted out the extra cake mix (praising God for giving me the foresight to buy extra) and made two more cakes.  T-minus 2 hours and counting...they were cool and ready to decorate.  I decided to nix the carving attempts and simply draw George's face on the round cake.  Curious looking, perhaps...George, not quite...monkey, definitely!  Cake #3 was a keeper in my book.
