Ruidoso, NM

"Mommy, we go to Mex-i-mo, " were the words often heard around here as we prepared for a glorious vacation. Seriously, we had forgotten what a vacation was. Not that we don't love trips to see family, but it's never much of a vacation when you are running around trying to cram in a bunch of visits and dinners because you're "vacationing" where you know people. That's not vacation, that's a trip, a visit, always enjoyable and delightful, but never relaxing. Going to a remote destination where you don't know a soul, or if you do, you aren't planning a get-together, is vacation. (Can I get an Amen from an Air Force family?) When you live so far away from friends and family, and accumulate more and more friends and family with each move, it's really hard to keep yourself from saying, "But it's only a couple hundred miles to (fill-in-the-blank)...just an extra half day," because we love seeing friends who we miss dearly, but sometimes, you just have to have a vacation!!!!

And vacation we did!!! For my parent's 40th wedding anniversary, we rented a cabin in the mountains of New Mexico and we relaxed!

I'm glad you guys got to go on vacation! I can't remember the last time I was on vacation with my family or with Steve. It's all been moving or visiting family for weddings and such. The pictures look like you guys had a blast!
