It has taken quite some time to feel "settled" here in San Antonio, but yesterday and today were sort of "Ah, Hah!" days.
It was a couple of years ago that Alan started talking about wanting this assignment. He wanted to teach and instruct students, mentor them, have them over to our house to feed them, etc... I don't know that Alan ever verbalized that desire in prayer specifically, but isn't it amazing to have a God with whom we have a personal relationship?! He knows the desires of our hearts, He creates desires in our hearts and when it's His will, He fulfills those desires. Yesterday, as I stood in our yard photographing our Easter guests, most of whom were Alan's students, I had an "Ah, Hah!" moment.
Since leaving our amazing family of OCFers in Minot, I have had the desire to have close friends and fellowship here and the first six months of our time here really seemed frustrating. It has taken all these months to feel connected at our church and it wasn't until January that we started our OCF group, but sitting outside this morning with two very good friends having a picnic and playgroup in our backyard, I had another, "Ah, Hah!" moment.
We miss our Minot friends dearly, but my two "Ah, Hah!" moments have made me realize our grieving period is drawing to a close as our eyes are opened to see the new growth of the seeds God is planting here in San Antonio.

This is such an encouraging blog, and I love the picture of the seeds sprouting. I felt the same way for a long time, even though we came back home. I had to re-introduce myself to everyone again, because 5 years had passed, and a lot changes in 5 years. To them, it hadn't because they were with themselves everyday and didn't see the change, but for me, everyone and everything was completely different. But it is wonderful when you finally see the seeds sprouting and realize that you have settled in, not forgetting the past times, but opening up your heart for new times. I'm so happy for you guys, and I pray that God continues to bless you all with loving friends and a wonderful ministry!
